Teen Invited to “Go Global” for service and adventure in Peru

BperuR6ucks County teens are invited to join Central and Lower Bucks Family YMCAs to “Go Global” on a trip to Peru for service and adventure this August.

Teens 13 years old and older have the opportunity to expand their world experience and earn service hours in Lima, Peru from August 8-13. Teens will earn twenty-seven YMCA verified service hours by working on a project at a local orphanage, as well as projects around the YMCA Peru. The trip will also include fun excursions and the chance to experience local culture.

“This trip is such a wonderful opportunity for teenagers to get out and explore the world and do some good in the process,” said Go Global leader Valerie Tanner. “We hope teens from all over Bucks County will consider joining us on this incredible adventure.”

Educator, author and Emmy Award winner Michael Brandwein offers a skill-packed session on handling undesired behavior with calmness, confidence and consistency.

Brandwein will share his “Key System,” a proven, warm, respectful and consistent set of specific techniques to immediately teach young people how to make better choices while guiding them away from undesired behavior. Topics include:


Swim Team Celebrates National Success

davidcurtissRLower Bucks Family YMCA’s swim team is celebrating their great success at the 2018 YMCA National Short Course Championships. The Lower Bucks team, known as Tri-Hampton YMCA Swim Team (THY), saw a stand-out performance by 15-year-old David Curtiss who placed first in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 19.75 seconds. “David is an amazing athlete and we’re so proud of his accomplishments. He is a humble team leader who encourages his teammates to push themselves by demonstrating what can be achieved through hard work,” said head coach Tim Ryan.
