CAMP STAFF

SUMMER CAMP STAFF

Summer camp is just around the corner and our staff is already planning and perparing for your Best. Summer. Ever. Get to know them before you arrive on your first day:

Zach Jones, Site Coordinator
Holland Summer Camp

zach jones R"My name is Zach Jones and I will be graduating from Penn State with a degree in public relations this May. I started working with the YMCA in 2016 as a lifeguard and swim instructor. This past summer I ran a YMCA swim camp and was an assistant swim coach for the Tri-Hampton Swim Team this past fall. I have also done internships with two separate YMCA's in marketing and public relations. For 2018 camp, I want to create a fun and welcoming environment for everyone at the Holland site. Making new friends, finding new hobbies and encouraging self confidence will be my top priorities for all of our campers. I am looking forward to starting every day with an optimistic mind set and making Holland camp a safe place for kids to be themselves and follow their dreams."

William Crawford, Site Coordinator
Mill Creek Summer Camp

william crawfordRHello all. My name is William Crawford and I will be your Site Coordinator for the YMCA camp at Millcreek Elementary School for the summer of 2018. I am a graduate of Cheyney University and I am currently pursuing my Master's Degree from California University of PA. At an early age, I was blessed to influence and mentor youth. I was fortunate enough to attend a boarding school growing up, Scotland School for Veterans Children which has been closed down for a couple years now. I became a mentor and residential assistant in the 9th grade. Mentoring not only my peers but the younger children as well. After high school I continued being a mentor but also became a coach when I was asked to work for an organization named International Student Athlete Academy. With this organization, I was a site coordinator of the after school program in which high school students would receive tutoring, SAT prep, mentoring, and athletic coaching. Upon my graduation from Cheyney University I transitioned into becoming a football coach at Benjamin Franklin HS. I developed programs for the student athletes to succeed and many were fortunate to receive scholarships to play football in college. During this time I worked as a Job Coach and was promoted to an Employment Training Specialist working to find job placement for young adults. After that enriching experience, I became a non teaching assistant at World Communications Charter School. My time at WCCS was a great one in which I was able to advance within the school to become a Heath and Physical Education teacher as well as the Athletic Director. During my 4 years I mentored, coached, tutored, and even drove the students to and from different events. As you see working with youth isn't something that I just do, it is a passion that I have. I love to see youth succeeding and developing in to positive young women and men. I look forward to working with your future scholar this summer.

I am super excited to be apart of the CIT program this summer. Having worked at the camp for the past 2 summers as a counselor has given me  many memories and so much experience that has helped me grow throughout the years.
