DIRECTOR OF HEALTHY LIVING - FULL-TIME POSITION

The Director of Healthy Living will inspire and lead a high functioning Health and Wellness Staff Team who will deliver excellence to all members in their continual pursuit of health and well-being. Leadership is to be spread across the two membership branches of Fairless Hills and Newtown. Salary will be based on experience (range $32,000 - $36,000).   • Establishment and cultivation of a Personal Training/Small Group Training Program through the use of the Functional Fitness Center, Fitness Center and various program spaces
  • Oversight of a relevant, diverse Group Exercise Program; including the delivery of inspiration, education and accountability of Instructors
  • Supervision of the Fitness Center; ensuring equipment function, safety protocols and engaging staff
  • Serves as Program Lead of the YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program (YDPP)
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, physical education, or recreation preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in wellness programming and fiscal management.
  • Minimum 3-5 years in supervisory experience, including full-time and part-time employees. Has a proven track record displaying an ability to motivate, educate, develop, and inspire staff.
  • Holds certifications in YMCA Healthy Lifestyle Principles, Strength Training; or related certifications through a reputable industry source(ACE, ASCM, AFAA, etc.)
  • Trained in Listen First or will become trained within 6 months of position. Can provide examples of motivation and engagement in supporting Health Seekers in leading a healthy lifestyle.
  • Knowledge of research methods and a high degree of computer efficiency in Microsoft office products.
  • Previous experience with nonprofit organizations preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Staff: Recruit, train, and consistently develop a staff team which exhibits a welcoming, mature, and empathetic attitude; while displaying high knowledge of all Healthy Living programs/services, as well as organizational-wide cause driven services.

Environment: Consistently maintain a clean, safe, organized, welcoming environment that speaks to all members. Areas of accountability include Fitness Center (including Free Weight Area & Studio B), Fitness Center Front Desk, Fitness Evaluation Room, Fitness Center Administration Office, Fitness Center Lobby, and Studios A, C, D and Pool Decks.

Relationship Building: Through the use of Listen First, establish positive relationships between staff to staff, staff to member, and ultimately member to member.

Data: Continually compile and use survey results to close service area gaps within Healthy Living and Aquatics.


Staffing & Leadership:
  • Provide oversight, direction and collaboration for the staff within your scope of leadership (Group Exercise Instructors, Personal Trainers, Fitness Coaches and Healthy Lifestyle coaches). Communicate proactively and drive a culture of excellence within the team.
  • Supervise and support the community impact of healthy living pathways, both current and future.
  • Provide collaboration and support to the Director of Membership Operations to align all staff in one vision.
  • Build and foster member-focused staff teams who are fully trained and educated to engage and support members through Living Our Cause. Instill and emphasize excellence in personal services, pathways, facilities, and member service by meeting and/or exceeding personal services enrollment goals, building and developing staff, and providing succession planning.
  • Provide strategic leadership throughout areas of responsibility; remain current with YUSA and fitness industry service trends.
  • Ensure proper scheduling and direct staff and volunteers as needed. All schedules should adhere to budget. Coordinate schedules based on usage trends, session registration, events, etc.
  • Ensure staff has access to departmental and organization-wide communication.
  • Review and evaluate staff performance annually, but also consistently as needed.
  • Host informative and effective staff meetings; secure an agenda which serves the needs of the Healthy Living Department as well as organizational causes such as Living Our Cause.
  • Follow all HR policies and procedures of the institution.
Equipment:

  • Accountable for all equipment pertaining to fitness center, personal services, and Pathways. Accountability includes the purchasing, replacement, functioning, maintenance, layout, storage, and cleaning.
  • Purchase all new equipment according to budget guidelines, equipment replacement timeline, and need while keep Fitness Equipment Asset Management spreadsheet current.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Department, equipment servicing contractor in achieving the highest level of performance, repairing and or/communicating equipment malfunction within a 24 hour period.
Budget, Marketing and Communications:

  • Supports the successful maintenance of the Healthy Living budget, including completion of budget, monthly monitoring, variance reports and forecasting.
  • Implement the approved budget through proactive planning of purchases based on need and the monthly spread, complete purchase administration processes within a timely manner.
  • Maintain and/or remain within or under expenses in all aspects of operations.
  • Adhere to brochure and all other marketing requirements/deadlines as led by Senior Director of Marketing.
  • Ensure all program schedules pertaining to areas of responsibility, both hard copy and electronic, are accurate at all times.
  • Provide monthly sales goals; train, motivate and empower staff to meet these goals.
Further duties of leadership:
  • Serve as an active member across the following organizational priorities/meetings: Staff Stakeholders, Come Together Meetings and all other organizational trainings and meetings as needed.
  • Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Respond in a timely manner, within 48 hours to requests, questions, concerns and/or complaints.

Lower Bucks Family YMCA is looking for a detailed-oriented and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with young people to be the Fairless Hills Camp Site Coordinator this summer.The Camp Site Coordinator will provide supervision and leadership to camp counselors while facilitating a fun, safe, and engaging camp environment for our campers. Duties included: Recruit, train, and develop camp staff team; establish clean and safe camp environment; establish positive relationships with staff, camp children, and parents. AQUATICS COORDINATOR - PART-TIME POSITION

The role is responsible for supporting both the Associate Director and Director of Aquatics in the day to day tasks of running a successful aquatics program at the Fairless Hills Branch.
