Functional Fitness

Functional Fitness is about training the body to handle real life situations rather than isolating and targeting specific muscles. It is designed to restore yourself back to how you were designed to move. Functional Fitness incorporates compound movement to simulate every day movements. The goal of Functional Fitness isn’t just to add strength, but also improve flexibility, range of motion, joint alignment and proprioception or body awareness based on sensations by nerves called proprioceptors.

There are many benefits of Functional Training:

  • Train movement patterns including squatting, reaching, rotating, picking things up from the floor, and putting things over your head.
  • Provides great fat burning workouts by using full body exercises that improve strength, endurance and boost metabolism.
  • Emphasis balance, requiring the body to activate smaller stabilizer muscles not used in many other forms of exercise. Every session includes flexibility, core stability, balance and strength training principles which continue to challenge all areas of the body.
  • In functional training every exercise involves core activation. A strong core builds up power and enhances balance and stability.
  • Classes are small, allowing more individualized attention.
  • Fun!

PLUS MEMBERSHIP For an additional $20 per month added to your membership, you get unlimited classes with an expert trainer in the Functional Fitness Center.
